We did it. Again 😞
All-time heat index record today. This will be in the record books for Tampa Airport, the official site.
Once again, like yesterday, we *may have hit 120 today in-between hours as the 5-munute obs showed, but the 119 will be official.
On a side note, heat index was 104 at 8am today.
Give me a break.

Interesting fact

NUMBER OF DAYS AT 100°! 🥵 Despite Florida's hot reputation, you may be surprised to find out it rarely hits air temps of 100° for most of the state. The reason? Water surrounding the Peninsula and high humidity, which on the flip side increases how it feels! Humid air takes a lot more energy to heat up than dry air. Below features the number of days each location has reached 100° since 1895.

Something very rare occurred in the Pacific Ocean...a tsunami from the earthquake interacted with a hurricane south of Hawaii. Can’t recall ever seeing that before.

Excessive Rainfall Outlook. ☔️⚡️⛈️
From the Weather Prediction Center: Thunderstorms with very heavy rainfall are expected over portions of the central and southern Florida Peninsula where the National Hurricane Center is monitoring a trough of low pressure along the Atlantic Coast, expected to move westward into the Gulf over the next couple of days. Regardless of any further development, an environment favorable for thunderstorms with plentiful moisture for torrential downpours will lead to a flash flooding risk. Slight Risks of Excessive Rainfall are in effect both Monday and Tuesday, with the current greatest potential for flash flooding in South Florida on Monday. ☔️⚡️⛈️
