Port St. Lucie Police Chief Leo Niemczyk shared a detailed update on Sergeant Levasseur’s condition following the shooting that left him critically injured.

Chief Niemczyk said the sergeant has already undergone five surgeries, including three involving facial injuries. He added that doctors expect additional procedures, including plastic surgery and multiple surgeries on both eyes, as his recovery continues.

According to the chief, the sergeant is now able to walk on his own with the assistance of a cane, which he described as a remarkable improvement compared to his condition immediately after the shooting. As for vision, Chief Niemczyk said the sergeant is currently reporting no vision in his right eye and shadowy vision in his left eye.
