Arthur Treacher’s Fish & Chips was a fast-food chain that boomed in the 1960s and 1970s, known for serving up British-style fried fish with thick ā€œchipsā€ (fries). It was named after Arthur Treacher, an English character actor best remembered as Jeeves in 1930s films. The brand launched in 1969, backed by the founder of the fast-growing fast-food chain, National Fast Food Corporation (later affiliated with National Subsidiaries of the Marriott Corporation). At its peak in the mid-1970s, Arthur Treacher’s had nearly 800 locations across the U.S., making it the largest fish-and-chips chain in the country.

The concept caught on during the seafood craze of the 1970s, but the rise was short-lived. The 1977 ā€œCod Warsā€ between the U.K. and Iceland led to soaring cod prices, forcing the chain to switch to less popular fish like po***ck. Combined with competition from Long John Silver’s and other quick-service brands, the business declined rapidly. By the 1980s and 1990s, most locations had closed or been converted to other chains.

Today, only a handful of Arthur Treacher’s restaurants remain, primarily in Ohio, and the brand is remembered with nostalgia as a quirky slice of 1970s fast-food history.

Why Get Organized? What’s The Point?

"Your house looks so amazing all disorganized and dirty!ā€ said no person ever. When our environment is in disarray, we waste time looking for lost items, we spend money buying what we have but can’t find, and we’re emotionally tied up in the process causing stress, anxiety, depression, even embarrassment and isolation.

Continually collecting all of the ā€œstuffā€ we accumulate throughout our life anchors us physically weighing us down. We often form attachments to the belongings of deceased loved ones and keep those items when they no longer serve a purpose. The effects of disorganization spill over into all areas of our lives negatively impacting our mind, body, and spirit. When we clear our spaces of mess and clutter, we save money, we clear our minds, and we have more time for the things that really matter in life. When my environment is out of sorts, my mind will surely follow. Does this resonate with you?

I’m excited by the process of clearing pathways to organized surroundings that improve our lives overall!
