We brought some daylight and greenery to a basement ballroom!

Working with the Living Future Foundation last month, we helped transform the basement ballroom of the Hilton Downtown Portland into a vibrant space. Playing into conference themes, we used various foliage gobos to help create a forest cannopy of light to host the event under.

To further the storytelling of the event, we progressed the lights through a natural sunset throughout the days, helping give attendees a sense of passing time in the windowless room.

The addition really elevated the space and crafted a special environment for attendees. How are you crafting story and impact into your next event?

I wanted to take a second to promote these letters being compiled for the Oregon Legislature I received from folks at Micro Enterprise Services of Oregon (MESO), in collaboration with the Community Economic Coalition.

They are looking for support in funding the Technical Assistance for Underserved Businesses Program and Economic Equity Investment Program in the Oregon budget for next year.

MESO was instrumental in helping me start my business. They provide great education and support for small business, particularly those ran by minoritized people. With the current economic uncertainty, these small businesses need support structures offered by groups like MESO. This funding is critical to that.

If you have the time (and particularly are Oregon based or work in Oregon), please take a minute to review the letters and consider signing them to show your support.

Yesterday, RPS Events was hit with a multi-alarm fire at their warehouse. Royce and his team are a staple to live events here in the Pacific Northwest. I've had the joy of working with Royce at last year's MPI Cascadia Educational Conference, and have continued to experience his work on several ocasions since.

Thankfully, no one was hurt in the fire, but RPS could use all our help in building back. If you have a moment, please donate or share this link to help support Royce and his team.

It's been such a pleasure to spend the last 4 months as an adjunct professor at my alma mater, Pacific University. Stepping into the TD role for the semester allowed me to work with so many incredible, talented up-and-coming performers and designers, and allowed me a chance to have a homecoming design for our fall theatre production - the world premier of Tunnel City by Grayson Ashford, as well as the Autumn Coreographer's Concert.

Getting to work with these talented young minds was such a refresher. Can't wait to see what these professionals do with their futures.
