For the Q4 issue, our team profiled nonprofits in three sectors, asking how they're adapting to federal funding cuts and a rapidly shifting funding environment. We spoke to the Oregon Food Bank, as well as several food pantries in the state's food bank network, about how they're adapting to funding cuts. We also spoke to Oregon Humanities about why the organization is fighting to get federal funds bank — and why it remains committed to public education and fostering difficult conversation. And we talked to staff at CASA of Eastern Oregon about what they're doing to ensure the foster youth they serve don't feel the effects of a precipitous drop in funds.
In 2025 Oregon nonprofits are navigating choppy waters. We talked to a few of them about how they’re navigating federal funding cuts and a challenging fundraising environment — and what keeps them focused on the work.
