In the remote parts of India, people lack both safe water and an understanding of the gospel.
Mani, a 12-year-old girl, used to walk three miles to get water. "But no matter how far I walked, I could never find water that was safe to drink," she recalls. "The water made me sick. I got fevers. I got dysentery. Even when I could afford treatment, it was days until I was sick again. All I could do was lay on the floor."
Mani's village was one of 10 where India Partners, a ministry based in Eugene, Oregon, planted a vibrant church and drilled a well for villages to have clean water.
"I was so happy the well was here in our village, and that I would never have to walk for water again," she says.
“Now not only do we have water, we have church," Mani says. "I can go to church and thank God. Not only has He given us salvation, He has taken away disease by giving us safe water to drink.”
