For months now the news around planet Earth has been all about Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos and his Blue Origin shuttle, The New Shepard, launching the first crewed flight into outer space on July 20th. Sadly for Bezos, it looks like he is going to get one-up’d on the attempt by his British billionaire counterpart and fellow space ju**ie, Sir Richard Branson. While Branson insists his rush to launch has nothing to do with ‘being the first’ it appears he is doing just that. This Sunday July 11th at 6am Sir Richard Branson will make history by launching himself and three other Virgin executives more than 50 miles above the Earth inside his shuttle, the VSS Unity.
