RADIO. Monday, September 5, 8:00 -10:00 pm (PDT) at 90.7 or kboo.fm/listen. A tribute to the late composer Ingram Marshall. This should be said, a composer who took classical composition, avant-garde, neo-Romanticism, world music, ambient and environmental sounds, and electronic processing and mixed them all together and did the job right. This will be a very dreamlike yet discordant excursion into the kind of mood music you didn't know existed. (and hopefully this will be the last memorial tribute for a while, R.I.P.).

Oops, due to a scheduling mixup this show was not on last week, now rescheduled. A text sound performance tonight with Susan Howe, renowned poet and historian. Readings come from the archives of the ten (count them ten) sisters of the18th century theologian Jonathan Edwards. Music by David Grubbs on organ and laptop. Additional wispy guitar sounds by Christian Fennesz, some French voodoo with Solange Gularte and Mehdi Ameziane, and some rapid fire pattern music from the Swedish group Archimedes Badkar. Monday, August 29, 10:00 – Midnight following the regular ADN show (90.7 FM and kboo.fm/listen)

RADIO. Philosophy, ethics and enlightenment are the themes for tonight's show. Philosophy will be music by Marcus Schmickler for women's choir and electronics based on writings by Friedrich Nietzsche. Ethics will be music by Yannis Kyriakides for multi-media, chorus and harpsichord based on “The Definitions of the Emotions” by Baruch Spinoza. Enlightenment will be music by Eliane Radigue based on 12th century spiritual songs by the Tibetan monk Milarepa. This will be like sticking your finger into an electrical socket so don't be afraid to get hurt. Monday, the first of August, 8:00 – 10:00 pm (PDT) on KBOO, 90.7, and indulging in kerygmatic proclamations at kboo.fm/listen.

RADIO. A Different Nature: Coda, presents a tribute to the late Vangelis (Papathanassiou). Yes, it's Mr. “Chariots of Fire” himself and this show will be a sentimental journey through soundtracks, electronics, and sequencers. Lots and lots of sequencers, back when sixteen tracks of moog synthesizers blasting away could knock you off your seat. Monday, July 25, 10:00 – 11:00 pm (PDT) on kboo.fm/listen and 90.7 in Portland.

RADIO! Tune in to KBOO (90.7 and kboo.fm/listen) Monday, March 7, at 8:00 pm (PST) for a Black History Month special, “An Evening with Julius Eastman.” Eastman was an up and coming composer in the 1970s, compared to Steve Reich and John Adams, but as a gay Black man struggled in the world of white classical music. He died penniless and not a single piece of music was heard until the first recordings in 2005. We will hear some swinging jazzy pattern music, piano trios, and the astonishing chamber piece, “Feminine,” in its entirety. A monumental tribute to a little-known artist.

PS: KBOO is in its winter drive. We need NEW MEMBERS! Please go to kboo.fm/donate now and make a contribution to keep community radio alive and well. The struggle continues.

A Different Nature presents “Lighten Up!” Been a tough summer, so ADN feigns whimsy with Richard Wagner, Gustav Mahler, Karl Stockhausen, Grumpy von Whatshisname, Handel, Mozart (actually none of these sourballs), it's all genre busting (or genre sapping) funny business (sort of like how Breaking Bad was funny, not haha funny, but, uh, well you get the idea).
