Oregon Employment Dept: No gap in benefits from federal programs

The COVID-19 relief bill was signed after the PUA and PEUC benefit programs expired. Many worried this would cause a gap in benefits. However, the Oregon Employment Department told me they got confirmation from the U.S. Department of Labor that there will NOT be a missed week of PUA, PEUC, or FPUC benefits as a result of the delay in the President's signing of the legislation.

Oregonians depending on federal unemployment benefits will not have a gap in coverage as some feared.

The Cowlitz County Sheriff's Office is currently searching for 16-year-old Anthony Mancuso who went missing yesterday while on a hike with his mother and 13-year-old sister.

More info: https://www.koin.com/news/missing-persons/teen-goes-missing-near-mt-st-helens-spirit-lake-09282020/

Update at 2140: Good news! Anthony has been located and is being walked out by searchers. All search teams are cancelled for tomorrow. Thank you for all of the support offered and received.
---
Update at 1445: There are an unbelievable amount of resources working on this search, numerous counties are assisting, numerous kinds of resources - air support, ground searchers, UAS team, dog teams, family and friend volunteers. At this time, due to the volume of family/friend volunteers, only specialized SAR teams are being contacted to join the search. Plans are in place to secure teams for a 3rd day of searching if necessary. We understand that people want to help, but it is important for the safety of all involved that helpers do not self-activate. Only the resources contacted through State DEM or through Cowlitz County DEM should respond so the search can be effectively managed. Thank you for all of the offers of support, we will post here if anything is needed.

---
Update at 1055: Just attached a photo of Anthony, taken the day of the hike, last seen wearing this clothing.
---
Cowlitz County Sheriff's Office and Search and Rescue are currently involved in a search near Mt. St. Helens for a teen who went missing yesterday on a hike.

Earlier, volunteers had been requested to assist but we just received word that they have plenty of temporary volunteers (friends and family). Unless you are a member of a qualified Search and Rescue organization, we ask that you please not self-activate at this time. Members of qualified teams should contact their team leader for information.

Thanks to all for their concern, we will update information as we receive it.

Religious leaders in our community held a press conference this morning about the protests we saw in Portland over the weekend. They said they stand in solidarity with George Floyd's family, but said they do not condone the violence and destruction of our city. They said that detracts from the real message.
