The People's Lens

The People's Lens The People's Lens tells the stories of environmentally, socially and culturally conscious companies Thus: The People's Lens was born.

Collective Eye Films, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, has been a leading educational film distribution and feature-length film production company. Our films, those that we create and those that we distribute, build bridges between cultures and provide unique perspectives by exploring social, political, environmental, and spiritual issues to bring provocative and entertaining stories

to the screen. Through meeting many of the world’s change-makers as we interviewed them for our feature-length films, it became clear that each of them and their organizations were in dire need of a story teller to promote their particular vision, organization and cause. The People's Lens is the newest member of the Collective Eye Films family, and has been created to fill the niche as the storyteller of local organizations who are working to resolve social, political, environmental, and spiritual issues, and to help re-imagine what our world can be. We believe that film is the most powerful medium to present critical issues, challenge audiences, and raise important questions. Keeping true to the notion that documentary films are powerful tools for change, we strive to unearth stories that make a difference.

Isla San Esteban, Baja California- An entire morning spent lugging gear through an arroyo on a particularly hot day, and there was one creature that kept alluding the camera-the spiny-tailed iguana. It was the perfect time of day for these critters to start crawling up cardon cacti in search of yummy flowers, but none were visible. After finally finding a photogenic fellow, it was amazing to witness his determination as he proceeded to jump and crawl from cactus to cactus, sometimes falling all the way back down to the base and repeating the ascent. Finally he reached the top and began munching on his reward. Now you know where the expression "leaping lizards" comes from...

Alaskan memories- White thunder broke the silence as an entire ice shelf plummeted into the sea in front of us. Within seconds, the newly formed "shooter" rocketed through the surface. Looking back, I don't know if I ever had a more epic experience with glacier calving in Alaska...

Another Alaskan throwback. Steller Sea Lions- I don't know if there's a more inquisitive (and vocal) marine mammal out there.

The storm clouds rolling in cut our sunset time-lapse session short at Buckhorn Springs. Amazingly the thunderstorm transformed into a snow storm over night and we awoke to a winter wonderland.

Snowy surprise- We had to pack up earlier than expected at Buckhorn Springs when the thunderstorms rolled in. In the morning we were shocked to find a winter wonderland...in May! All the seasons at once in .

A river of clouds- After our third night in the wilderness we finally got some clear skies. Sunrise in Joseph Canyon offered a spectacular scene of a river of clouds flowing through the valley below, which became illuminated as the sun began to rise...

"The time has come," the Walrus said,
"To talk of many things:
Of shoes--and ships--and sealing-wax--
Of cabbages--and kings--
And why the sea is boiling hot--
And whether pigs have wings."
-The Walrus and the Carpenter by Lewis Carroll

The quote that came to mind while watching the videos...so random I just had to share. ^-^

Amazing job!
