Happy Martin Luther Jing Jr. Day.
On this complicated day of January 20th, 2025, may we keep love (for our neighbors, for our communities, for our quality of life) as the focus in our hearts. May we be unwavering in our conviction for a future that benefits all. May we not allow fear of evil people’s choices to deter us from taking care of each other. Community is more important now than ever; critical thinking is more important now than ever.
To be completely transparent, I have become jaded af after these TWO (never in a million years would I have believed it) inaugurations. I need to do better. I need to put my efforts & money & energy where my mouth is. Community is pretty much literally all we will have, so it’s time now more than ever to do the work.
We need to be extra careful with what we read and believe as the internet is no longer, like, remotely safe. I am afraid, but the bell will toll. I am afraid, but I am currently able-bodied and I have two feet and two hands to put to work. I am afraid, but I love more. I love you. If you need a friend, if you need a listening ear, if you need a creative collaborator, my name is Emily and I am here for you. It will get better. We will make it through.
