This Saturday we are building this antenna from my second book for or monthly Chesapeake Amateur Radio Service “Shack Day”. All amateur radio operators or anyone interested in amateur radio are invited to join us at the shack (116 Reservation Road, Chesapeake, Virginia 23322) at 10am for the build. Later that day we are taking it to the beach to have some salty fun and work some DX. What a morning of DX! 4 continents (Europe, Africa, Australia and North America) and I had the beach all to myself. That’s a vertical OCF dipole on a 12 meter DX Commander pole. Upper element 22’ lower element 11’ fed with a 4:1 balun

This might be the best money I’ve ever spent on anything for portable Ham Radio on the beach. My new beach wagon enables me to get bigger better stuff down here to operate portable. Building a big antenna now.

Fun activation here in the camper but had to cut it short when I started seeing (and hearing) the lightning flashes. Took down the V dipole and called it a day. 73 from US-1299!
