Introducing the newest little boss of Anderson Family Farm: Nova Raye!

Nova has already decided the goats are her people. She adores them and would happily spend all day keeping tabs on her new friends. The hens? Perfectly chill. The rooster? Absolutely terrifying, and she would prefer that he respect her personal space.

Gizmo, meanwhile, does not quite care for Nova’s antics. Nova remains hopeful that he’ll come around once he realizes how charming she is.

At home, Nova operates under one simple rule: nothing is off limits if she can convince someone to give it to her. So far, she’s found everyone remarkably easy to train (except for Gizmo, obviously).

Welcome to the farm, Nova Raye. We’re all yours now. 🐐

Edit: Just realized how incredibly visible my bruises are on my thighs and guys, the only ones hitting on me are these goats. 😅😂

Me and my girls!!!!

Life is so much better with these babies. We've had a busy busy Sunday already but it's absolutely worth it.

Interesting

If ya’ll want more does in your litters.. I might have a secret for you. 😏

If you’ve been following us for really any amount of time, you probably know we have a very high number of does born here.
Naturally I had to look into this.

I found many, many studies on this very topic
(including ScienceDirect, ResearchGate, National Library of Medicine, and Journal of Chemical and Pharmaceutical Research)
that actually supported my theory, not just in rabbits, but across different species of mammals.

Higher calcium levels ingested before breeding change the acidity of the doe’s reproductive system.
Y s***m are sensitive to acidic environments, X s***m are more resilient (shocker).

On top of this, calcium also affects the oviduct fluid and the wall of the eggs themselves. This highly favours the pe*******on of X s***m.

Our well water does in fact contain a high level of calcium. So much so that I am sweeping piles of deposits off the floors when I spill.
We also feed a lot of alfalfa, which contains so much calcium!

Why isn’t this common information?! 🤯
And oh yeah. Another litter of 5 does and 1 buck.
And that concludes our summer baby boom.

It's been a crazy last few weeks!

In preparation for the heat wave we have moving through the area, we spent the majority of yesterday getting everybody ready. The goats now have their own fans (Max LOVES his), tents for some shade, and are honestly pretty set.

My dogs? Tarp, fan, and even a lovely kiddie pool! I know they love to be outside but it sure worries me something fierce.

Did I mention we've got not one, but TWO new goat babies? Whyssper and Dottie are the absolute cutest. I'll have to get some pictures for ya'll soon.

Stay cool out there, guys!

Sweet Nay Nay met her little goat she dubbed "Strawberry" for the first time yesterday! 🍓

It was a beautiful moment.

If anyone is wondering, Maximus Decimus Meridius was also thrilled to have tiny, pint-sized visitors that matched his level of angst. 💯

Oh, it truly is the little things. 🥹

There's no wrong way to use a golf cart...right?

We had WAY too much fun with this one! My poor Momma didn't know what to think at first but she changed her mind. 🤣

Now we're all determined to make this a thing when we get our next snow.

Do you guys remember sweet little Maximus? Our first ever dwarf goat? ❤️

Well, needless to say, he is NOT a little goat anymore!

His horns are SO big and he is absolutely a protector of his female goats. Not so crazy about his whether, but that's okay! 😅

He weighed in at almost 30lbs yesterday! He snuffs and grunts and pretty much rules his land with an iron...well, horn?

Way to go, Max! 😍
