As many of you know, dachshunds are a unique breed with their long bodies and short legs, but during pregnancy, we saw another side of her. She became even more affectionate, as if she knew she was carrying something precious. Her instincts kicked in, and she was so gentle and calm, always seeking comfort and warmth.
Throughout the pregnancy, we made sure she was well taken care of — from providing her with a nutritious diet to ensuring she had a cozy, quiet space where she could rest. It was fascinating to see her body change as the little lives inside her grew. We could feel the gentle kicks of the puppies, and she would often curl up close to us, perhaps sensing that she wasn't going through this journey alone.
There were, of course, moments when we had to be extra careful. Dachshunds, with their long backs, are already prone to spinal issues, and pregnancy can put extra strain on their bodies. We made sure she avoided jumping or straining herself in any way. We also regularly consulted with our vet to monitor her health and the puppies’ development.
And then, the day finally came when she went into labor. It was a long and exhausting process for her, but she showed immense courage. One by one, the tiny dachshund puppies were born, each one more adorable than the last. Watching her instinctively care for them, cleaning them and nudging them toward her for warmth, was such a beautiful sight.
Her pregnancy journey taught us so much about patience, care, and the natural bond between a mother and her babies. Our dachshund may be small, but her heart and strength are truly extraordinary. Today, we celebrate not only her, but all the mothers out there, who carry and nurture life with such grace. Thank you.
