Do not be deceived: bad company corrupts good character. (1 Corinthians 15:33)
As I completed chores at dawn, I sat and watched the heifers chow down. I pondered on the behavior of all the heifers that have come through our homestead. Most times they are "monkey see, monkey do". There are some that are leaders and not followers.
I sipped on my coffee and thought about what my dad used to tell me as a teenager. "Tell me who you hang around with and I'll tell you who you are". To be honest, at the time, that statement annoyed me big time. Lol! Well, I was a teenager and by golly, I knew it all.
Dad, no truer words than those. Now I see that clearly. Sorry for the many eye-rolls. I love you.
The verse highlights that bad company, whether it refers to people with ungodly principles or simply those who lead others astray, can wear down even the most faithful.
This doesn't mean we don't help or tell other about God. No. Never stop spreading God's love and promises. Simply, means, those who lead others astray, can wear down even the most faithful. Be mindful of the company you keep.
