๐ป๐ฎ Another Busy Night for Presque Isle Police
The shift opened with routine radio traffic as multiple units cleared earlier calls, shut off body cameras, dropped off individuals, and returned to service. Officers moved fluidly in and out of service, checking locations, confirming status, and repositioning throughout the city. Radios crackled steadily as patrol settled into what initially appeared to be a standard night.
That pace escalated quickly.
Academy Street โ Vehicle vs. Bus
Officers were dispatched to a vehicle versus bus incident on Academy Street. Upon arrival, it was confirmed there were no injuries, and all involved parties were safely out of the roadway. Units staged in a nearby parking lot while traffic safety was confirmed. The situation remained calm and controlled, and officers coordinated follow-up with MSAD #1.
Later radio traffic confirmed both vehicles were off the roadwayโidentified as a black Chevy Silverado and a black Chevy Traverseโparked in front of the Cubby Thrift Store. With no reported damage and no injuries, the incident was deemed non-reportable, and units cleared.
Citywide Patrol Activity
Throughout the evening, officers handled a high volume of routine but overlapping calls:
Traffic complaints and parking issues along Main Street, TD Bank, and near Pizza Hut
Plate checks and vehicle matches that were investigated and ruled out
Disabled vehicles and obstruction complaints
Warnings and citations issued as appropriate
Radio transmissions frequently overlapped, reflecting a busy city with officers bouncing between calls and clearing one incident only to be immediately reassigned to another.
Trespass Complaints โ Main Street and Walmart Area
Employees at Dominoโs requested police assistance to have Kirk removed from the premises. Officers responded, transported him back to the lobby area, and confirmed there was no disorderly conduct complaint, only a request to move him along. The incident was closed as a citizen assist.
Later, a separate trespass complaint came in near Walmart, where staff reported an individual wearing a black and maroon coat with gray sweatpants who had been removed but required formal trespass documentation. Officers located the subject and issued trespass warnings for two properties, then cleared both units.
Route 1 โ Traffic Hazards
Multiple incidents occurred along Route 1, including a vehicle stuck in a snowbank. Southbound traffic was temporarily shut down while officers and MSP worked the scene. DOT was notified due to significant snow buildup in the roadway. Once the vehicle was freed and no injuries or damage were reported, traffic was reopened and units cleared.
Welfare and Impairment Calls
Officers responded to several welfare-related incidents, including a report of a male with his pants around his ankles, extremely impaired and appearing close to passing out near 6th Street. Officers made contact, confirmed heavy intoxication, and cleared without further enforcement after ensuring safety.
Another welfare check involved coordination with 988, EMS, and hospital staff. The individual involved went willingly to the hospital, was later medicated, and remained in hospital care. Officers followed the ambulance and cleared once custody was transferred.
Fort Road / State Street โ OUI Investigation
A significant escalation occurred following an automatic crash notification near the State Street intersection. Officers responded and made contact with two underage individuals at the scene. Early radio traffic indicated difficulty communicating with one subject, who appeared unable to answer basic questions.
One individual was identified as Teagan who stated he was with another male, Brady, associated with a Honda CR-V. Officers immediately advised dispatch that impairment was suspected, and that the subjects involved were under the legal drinking age.
As the investigation progressed, critical information came back over the radio:
Both individuals were under 21
At least one subject had a prior OUI history
An ambulance was requested due to suspected impairment and uncertainty about injuries
Further records checks revealed compounding legal issues. Dispatch confirmed that one subject was:
Currently suspended
On bail for an OUI-related offense
Under bail conditions prohibiting the use or possession of alcohol
Additional history showed:
A prior withdrawal for operating with a BAC over the legal limit
An active suspension at the time of the incident
What began as a crash alert quickly evolved into a serious OUI investigation, involving underage subjects, prior alcohol-related offenses, suspension status, and active bail restrictions. Officers coordinated responsibilities, discussed custody status, requested medical support, and worked through evidence handling and next steps.
The radio tone shifted noticeably as the scope of the incident became clear.
Later Calls and End of Shift
As the night continued, officers dealt with:
Mechanical issues at the sally port while attempting to process a male taken into custody
An overdose response on Birch Street, where Narcan had already been administered and the patient was awake upon officer arrival
A final high-priority call involving a 13-year-old juvenile actively destroying a room, with staff unable to control the situation despite multiple personnel present
Units were dispatched immediately, closing out a long and demanding shift.
