Every year, thousands of families lose their babies to sleep-related causes, including Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and accidental suffocation. But simple, consistent steps can make a life-saving difference.
During the first few months, sleepless nights can feel endless—but creating a safe sleep space for your baby can bring peace of mind and lasting protection.
Here’s how to help reduce the risk of SIDS and other sleep-related deaths:
•Always place your baby on their back for naps and at night.
•Use a firm, flat sleep surface (like a crib or bassinet) with only a fitted sheet.
•Share your room, not your bed. Keep baby close, but on a separate sleep surface.
•Keep soft bedding, pillows, and toys out of baby’s sleep area.
•Breastfeeding and staying up to date on vaccines can also help lower the risk.
This SIDS Awareness Month, let’s share knowledge and support for families everywhere—because every baby deserves a safe place to dream. 💛
