One of the projects I’m really excited to start tackling over the coming months is something pretty special… Treasure Island at the Pembroke Town Park. ❤️

Treasure Island was originally built in 1996, and for nearly 30 years it has served the children and families of Pembroke. Just think about that for a minute some of the kids who played here when it was first built are probably bringing their own children to play here today.

But 30 years of love, laughter, weather and little feet have taken their toll, and unfortunately the park is beginning to show its age. Some areas are deteriorating, repairs are becoming necessary, and there are things that eventually have to be addressed for safety.

So one of the things I’ll be working on is exploring funding opportunities and grants to see what might be possible for the future of Treasure Island.

And y’all know me… once I get interested in something, down the rabbit hole I go. 😂

I’m learning that funding a project like this isn’t necessarily about finding one big check. It can mean piecing together grants, community partnerships, sponsorships and other funding opportunities to build something much bigger.

I think it would be pretty incredible to honor what Treasure Island has been to Pembroke for the last 30 years while imagining what it could be for the NEXT 30.

I’m just getting started, and I have a whole lot to learn but I thought it might be fun to bring y’all along for the ride and show you some of what goes on behind the scenes when a little town starts dreaming about a big project. ❤️

Who remembers playing at Treasure Island? I’d LOVE to hear your memories and if you have old pictures, I’d love to see those too!

There are moments when I look around and think… how did I get so lucky? 🥹❤️

Life certainly hasn’t always gone according to plan, and Lord knows there have been some hard chapters along the way. But right now, I’m just feeling incredibly grateful for my life, for the people I love, for new opportunities, and for getting to build a life that feels more and more like me.

And can we talk about this little office?! 😂🌸 She is slowly getting some personality, and I am LOVING it. The florals, the birds, the cozy little touches… apparently Mamaw can’t just have an office. It has to look like an eccentric Appalachian granny moved into the town hall. 😂

Sometimes happiness isn’t one huge life-changing moment. Sometimes it’s sitting in your cute little office, looking around, and realizing you’re genuinely thankful for where life has brought you. ❤️

Feeling mighty blessed tonight. 🥰

“No good deed goes unpunished” but does that mean we stop doing good? ❤️

I recently saw a video talking about Dolly Parton, salvation, and being more outspoken about faith, and it got me thinking. Maybe the loudest testimony isn’t always what we say or the labels we wear. Maybe it’s how we love people, how we treat them, how we give, forgive, show kindness, and live our lives out loud.

Let your light shine so brightly through your actions that people don’t need a label to know what’s in your heart. ✨

Sometimes the internet has a way of making you wish you’d never shared anything at all.

You post a little video because you’re excited about something happening in your life, and before you know it, everybody has advice. Everybody has a warning. Everybody knows what you should or shouldn’t be doing.

And yes, I know I put my life on the internet. I know people are going to have opinions.

But dang… sometimes I’m not asking for advice. Sometimes I’m not asking what you would do differently. Sometimes I’m just excited and I want to share that excitement with y’all.

You don’t always have to teach me something or warn me about what could go wrong.

Sometimes you can just say, “Jordan, I’m happy for you!” and be excited with me. ❤️

Is that really too much to ask?
