🍑 Some drinks leave scars.

Jessica hadn't revisited this particular cocktail territory since she was about 21.
Twenty-five years later...
she decided it was finally time. 😂

Which immediately led us into stories about those ONE drinks from our younger years that we learned never, ever to order again—including a friend's unfortunate encounter with peach schnapps.

So now we have to ask:

📮 Sometimes a piece of mail stops you in your tracks.

Our listener Richard sent us an extraordinary collection of Titanic-related postal history.

Among the pieces are material connected to a child survivor of the sinking and a postcard associated with Marion, a second-class passenger who boarded Titanic at Southampton on April 10, 1912.

Holding onto words connected to people who experienced history—not as something in a textbook, but as their actual lives—is one of the things that makes old postcards and letters so powerful.

There's so much here that we may need an entire episode.

LOOK WHAT ARRIVED IN THE MAIL!

We needed this today. ❤️

The September issue of Rhode Island Monthly arrived in my mailbox, and there we are!

“Postcards from the Edge: Two friends dive into the world of historical postcards with an irreverent new podcast.”

When Jessica and I started this little project earlier this year, we really had no idea what we were doing.

We knew we loved old postcards.
We knew we loved history.
We knew cocktails would probably help.
And we knew we had a LOT of questions.

Somehow, that turned into 20 episodes, hundreds of postcards, historical rabbit holes we never expected to go down, new friends, an amazing little Tavern community – and now a feature in Rhode Island Monthly ❤️

The timing couldn't have been better. It's been a challenging few weeks (and year!) for both of us, and seeing this article in print gave us exactly the lift we needed.

A huge THANK YOU to Dana Laverty for taking our quirky little podcast seriously from the very beginning, for capturing exactly what makes it fun for us, and for being such an enthusiastic supporter.

One of my favorite lines from the story might also be the best description of this entire adventure: “We’re just two women who thought postcards were kind of wacky.” 😂

Yep. That pretty much sums it up.

Thank you, Rhode Island Monthly. And thank you to everyone who has listened, watched, shared a post, sent us a postcard, offered a theory, joined us at the Tavern or simply laughed along with us.

📮 A Quick YouTube Update…

For those following along with our unexpected YouTube mystery, unfortunately, we still don’t have an answer.

YouTube denied our initial appeal of the decision to terminate our channel for violating its Circumvention Policy. We still have not been told what previously terminated or restricted channel YouTube believes we were attempting to circumvent — and neither of us has ever knowingly had a YouTube channel terminated.

So, naturally...
we still have questions. 🤷‍♀️📮

We’ve reached out to asking for help and a manual review, and now we’re taking our appeal one step further:

We’re putting it in the mail.

Yes. The hosts of a podcast about vintage postcards are appealing a YouTube decision by actual mail. 😂

Honestly, it seems fitting.

We’re sending a written request to YouTube asking that someone manually review the account association that led to our channel being terminated. Will it work? We have absolutely no idea.

But we're not giving up.

In the meantime, the Tavern is still open. 🍸

🎩 Did our mysterious postcard sender run off with Woodrow Wilson?
Hear us out.

Our 1912 postcard says the sender didn't tell “the folks” where she was REALLY going.
It was mailed from New York.
Woodrow Wilson was in New York.
And our research rabbit hole revealed some interesting details about Wilson's romantic life.

Therefore...
Julia ran off with Woodrow Wilson.
Case closed. 🔎

Okay, absolutely NOT case closed. 😂

YouTube Our Postmarked & Tipsy channel (UCbDVKmswWv1JS6WkkhLgHgw) was terminated for Circumvention and our appeal denied. Neither host has ever had a channel terminated. We believe this is a false account association. Can you help us get a manual review?

iced tea with fresh lemon.
