🎶 JUNE FEATURED ARTIST: PARKER RAMSAY 🎶
For June, Chord47 is excited to feature harpist, writer, researcher, and innovator Parker Ramsay.
Parker has built a career that defies easy categorization, expanding the harp’s role through performance, scholarship, historical performance practice, and new technology. A passionate advocate for contemporary music, he has premiered works by leading composers, collaborated with institutions such as IRCAM, and helped bring groundbreaking new repertoire to life—including works incorporating live electronics, custom interfaces, and entirely new instruments.
His acclaimed recording of Bach’s Goldberg Variations earned praise from Gramophone, BBC Music Magazine, WQXR, and The Wall Street Journal, while his performances have taken him to venues including Alice Tully Hall, The 92nd Street Y, King’s College Cambridge, the Phillips Collection, and the Spoleto Festival.
Equally at home on modern and historical harps, Parker co-directs the period-instrument ensemble A Golden Wire and regularly writes on music and culture for publications including The New York Times, The Washington Post, and Early Music America.
Throughout June, we’ll explore Parker’s artistic journey, creative process, and his work at the forefront of what the harp can be.
