Statement from Mayor Frank Picozzi on the passing of Former Mayor Joe Solomon

“I’m saddened to hear of the passing of Joseph Solomon. Although our political views differed, I have a great respect for anyone who steps up to the plate, puts their name on the ballot and then serves. Joe was a nine term councilman and the 16th Mayor of the Warwick and this city will honor him. I’ve ordered city flags to be lowered for a period of two weeks. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Solomon family, “said Mayor Picozzi.

Mayor Frank Picozzi has closed the Buttonwoods Annex, located at 3027 West Shore Road, until at least the end of the week after four employees tested positive for COVID-19. The building will be closed to the public. Tax payments, and sewer and water bills can be paid online or residents can put them in drop boxes located outside the Annex or City Hall. Most employees will be working from home and building inspectors will continue doing inspections in the field. The Buttonwoods Annex will be fully sanitized. "I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but I want to keep both the citizens and our employees safe and healthy, said Mayor Picozzi.

🚨SCAM ALERT: COVID-19 VACCINE SCAMS TARGETING SENIORS ACROSS THE COUNTRY🚨

As Warwick residents over the age of 75 continue to wait for the opportunity to get vaccinated against COVID-19, health officials are sending out a warning about scammers taking advantage of this age population.
Scammers are calling people telling them they can speed up the process of getting the vaccine by paying a fee and asking for the person’s social security number. The Health Department would NEVER ask for payment or your social security number for COVID-19 immunization. You also cannot pay to get early access to the vaccine or be put on a waiting list. If you happen to get this phone call, we are urging residents to hang up immediately.

WAITING LIST LAUNCHED FOR COVID-19 VACCINE FOR WARWICK RESIDENTS 75 AND OLDER

Warwick residents, who are 75 and older, can now sign up to put their names on a waiting list to get the COVID-19 vaccine when it becomes available to the city later this month. Starting today, those residents can log onto: warwickri.gov/vaccine and fill out a form with basic information.

Once the vaccine is available, residents will receive an email with another link where they can start the registration process to set up an appointment. Following directive from the Department of Health, doses will be distributed from oldest to youngest in this specific age group.

A CODE RED phone call will be going out to residents letting them know about the waiting list. If a resident is not signed up for CODE RED phone calls, they can do so by logging onto the city’s website: warwickri.gov. Under the “online resources” tab, they can click on CODE RED and follow the next steps.

There is no rush to sign up to be on the COVID-19 Vaccine waiting list, as the city is still waiting to receive a set schedule on the next rollout of the vaccine.

If residents, 75 and older, do not have access to a computer to sign up to be on the waiting list, we are urging them to reach out to family members to help them navigate the process.

Wow. We were so honored to be one of our new mayor's first visits after inauguration. What a pleasure to sit with Mayor Frank Picozzi and his staff Elizabeth Tufts and Aaron to have a discussion about the history of the building, the impact of the work WCFA has done over many years and the incredible investments that have been made into that space thanks to grant funding acquired by many volunteer board members over the years. We are extremely grateful for this change and feeling optimistic about the future for WCFA and it's beloved home!

WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) – It’s no secret this pandemic has taken its toll on people in different ways. “It’s been really tough on my family.” Especially for Matthew Johnson, a father of two from Warwick. “It’s been my life long dream to open my barbershop. I did in February and then the p...

Life update 🚨

After 19 years in the news business and telling people’s stories, I’m stepping away from the camera at ABC 6 News at the end of the month 🎥

It’s been an amazing ride! I’ve met so many great people, some of whom have become lifelong friends. The news business shaped who I am as a person, and I’ll never forget the people I met and the stories I was able to tell over the last two decades in Lincoln, NE, Springfield, MA and here in Rhode Island.

I’m so excited to announce, I’ll be the new Media Coordinator for Frank Picozzi once he’s sworn in as Warwick’s new Mayor in January! I’ll still be telling stories, but in a different way. I’m so blessed for
this amazing opportunity! I know my dad would be proud 💫

Warwick Mayor-Elect Frank Picozzi on Wednesday announced a number of top staff appointments to his administration. Picozzi was both the overwhelming and upset winner of the Warwick mayor’s race in November beating incumbent Joseph Solomon 59% to 40%.
