The Beehive Trail has a BIG BROTHER… and his name is PRECIPICE! 😳⛰️

Last week, Stan and I took on one of the most challenging hikes in Acadia National Park, and let me tell you… this one was NOT for the faint of heart! 😂

🥾 Precipice Trail – Acadia National Park, Maine

📍 Distance: 3.2 miles round trip (full loop)

📈 Elevation Gain: Over 1,000 feet in just 0.9 miles of climbing!

💪 Difficulty: VERY strenuous!

🪜 The Challenge: Vertical iron ladders, metal rungs, narrow cliffside ledges, and some seriously breathtaking drop-offs!

If you’ve hiked the famous Beehive Trail, just imagine its BIG BROTHER! Bigger climbs, more exposure, and a whole lot more adrenaline! 😬

Now, remember… we’re OVER THE HILL, so this was definitely a challenge for us! 🤣 But we pushed ourselves, took our time, and made it to the top of Champlain Mountain!

And WOW! 🙌 The views were incredible, but the feeling of accomplishment was even better.

This wasn’t just another hike. It was honestly one of the highlights of our LIFE! ❤️

Another reminder that getting older doesn’t mean we have to stop challenging ourselves or making incredible memories together.

🐝 We conquered THE BEEHIVE! 🥾⛰️

Stan and I decided to take on one of Acadia National Park’s most iconic hikes — and this one definitely earns its reputation!

The Beehive Loop is only about 1.4 miles round trip, but don’t let the distance fool you. 😳 You climb roughly 450 feet up the cliff, scrambling over granite, climbing iron rungs and ladders, navigating narrow ledges and getting some seriously incredible views along the way. (National Park Service)

And then you reach the top… 🙌

At about 520 feet above sea level, the views over Sand Beach, Thunder Hole and the Gulf of Maine are absolutely worth the climb. 🌊🍁

This hike was challenging, exhilarating and probably one of the most memorable things we’ve done in Acadia!

Now the question…

🔧 STAN TO THE RESCUE! 😂

When our Lippert 3.0 Ground Control right front leveling jack failed, we were officially stuck.

So Stan did what Stan does…pulled out the tools, figured it out, and replaced the jack himself. 💪

New leveling jack ✅
Problem solved ✅
No longer stranded! 🙌

RV life definitely keeps you humble. One minute you’re enjoying the view, the next minute you’re underneath the rig making repairs. 😂

🍁 THINGS TO DO IN STOWE, VERMONT 🍁

If Stowe is on your New England bucket list, save this one! There’s a LOT to squeeze into this little Vermont mountain town. 👇

🚲 Hike or bike the Stowe Recreation Path — 5.3 scenic miles winding along the river and through town.

🏔️ Visit the Trapp Family Lodge — home of the real von Trapp family — then stop at the von Trapp Bierhall for a taste of Austria in Vermont.

💦 Chase some waterfalls!
• Moss Glen Falls — an easy stop and one of Stowe’s most photogenic falls.
• Bingham Falls — tucked into the woods along the Smugglers’ Notch corridor with a beautiful rocky gorge.

🌉 Go covered-bridge hunting!
• Gold Brook Covered Bridge, aka Emily’s Bridge — built in 1844 and famous for its local ghost legend.
• Brookdale Bridge — right by the end of the Stowe Recreation Path.
• Red Covered Bridge — an 1896 bridge just outside Stowe in Morristown.

☕ Head downtown for a Vermont Maple Latte and, because you’re already committed…a maple-drizzled cinnamon roll! 🤤 Shout out to Black Cap Coffee and Bakery 🥮

⛪ Stop at the iconic Stowe Community Church — get that classic Stowe photo, but don’t stop there…go inside and take a look! 🙏🙌

🚙 And finally, take the winding scenic drive through Smugglers’ Notch. The narrow road, giant boulders and fall colors make this one of those drives where the journey really IS the destination.

🍂 Stowe definitely delivered that classic Vermont experience!

We scored an incredible campsite in Bar Harbor… and then the RV had other plans. 😅

Right after we arrived, our Lippert Ground Control 3.0 front leveling jacks failed. It’s one of those frustrating realities of RV life—you can have the perfect spot and still end up fixing something.

Thankfully, Bar Harbor gave us a pretty great reminder of why the headaches are worth it. 🌊⚓️

🎅🎄 Well, this might be the most festive rest stop we’ve ever made!

Travel day had us rolling through New Hampshire on our way to Maine when we pulled the truck and fifth wheel into the parking lot at Santa’s Village for a little break. 😂

First time here… and definitely not your average travel-day pit stop!

Now we want to know:

19 waterfalls in just 1.5 miles! 😍💦
Watkins Glen State Park in New York is nothing short of spectacular!
We followed the winding Gorge Trail through narrow rock passageways, across stone bridges, behind waterfalls, and alongside towering cliffs carved by thousands of years of rushing water.
Every turn revealed something even more incredible than the last! This is one of those hikes where you simply can’t put the camera down. 📸

We may need to check on the burgers… and Stan’s eyebrows. 👀
