A Just Quincy was founded in June 2024 by Maggie McKee and me, along with many passionate and concerned Quincy residents. Although the mission has grown, we initially formed for one reason: to undo the the Mayor and City Council raises.
Tonight, almost exactly two years later, those raises are finished. Repealed. Removed. Deleted. Sent to the great ordinance graveyard in the sky.
If you had asked us back then how this story would end, neither of us would have guessed that the councilor chairing the committee to repeal the raises would be Ward 5 Councilor Maggie McKee.
But local politics has a sense of irony.
