All my life, I believed I needed love to feel complete.
A relationship, a partner, someone beside me so I wouldn’t have to face life alone.
Being single felt like standing in the dark with no map, and I avoided it at all costs.
So I chased love wherever I thought I could find it.
I made wrong turns, trusted the wrong hearts and poured myself into people who were never meant to stay.
And every time, I ended up in the same place.
Hurt feelings.
Tired eyes.
A broken heart I had to piece back together again.
I didn’t understand why it kept happening.
The truth was simple, though I didn’t want to admit it.
I had never learned how to stand on my own.
I built my identity around being someone’s partner, someone’s love, someone’s everything.
I thought that’s what happiness looked like.
Until one day, after yet another ending that left me drained and empty, I made a different choice.
I chose me.
I won’t pretend I wasn’t scared.
I was terrified.
I didn’t know who I was without someone beside me.
I didn’t know where to begin or what I’d find when I finally looked inward.
But I knew I couldn’t keep repeating the same story and expecting a different ending.
Trying to turn frogs into fairy tales had left my heart exhausted and my soul quiet.
So I stopped chasing love and started searching for myself.
Step by step, I began to rediscover the parts of me I had buried along the way.
Each small step felt uncertain, but also freeing.
I started to feel lighter.
Stronger.
More alive.
The more I learned about myself, the more I began to love the woman I was becoming.
It wasn’t easy, and some days still felt uncertain.
But with each choice, I grew more confident, more grounded, more at peace with my own company.
I still see things I want to improve when I look in the mirror, but now I’m doing it for me.
Living for what makes my heart smile.
Growing because I want to, not because I need someone else to love me.
Maybe I don’t have everything figured out yet.
But that’s okay.
One step at a time.
One day at a time.
I’m finding my way.
And this time…
I’ve got this.
