🌿✨ Nature wins in the playground!

A daycare in Finland decided to rewild its yard — swapping out rubber mats and turf for forest floors, moss, logs, and wild plants… and the results are incredible! 🌲🪵🍃

Children who play there are showing stronger immune systems, fewer allergies, and overall better health — all from spending time in nature instead of sterile playgrounds. 💪👧🧒

Now the entire nation is adopting the idea. 🇫🇮🌍

🌍🚆 Big news from Europe — Austria and Italy have completed construction on what’s now the world’s longest rail tunnel!

Called the “Brenner Base Tunnel,” it stretches 64 miles (about 103 km) under the Alps, connecting Innsbruck (Austria) with Fortezza (Italy). Once fully operational, it’s expected to drastically cut travel times, reduce freight traffic over sensitive mountain passes, and shift more transport to cleaner rail alternatives.

This tunnel is more than just engineering — it represents a push toward greener, more efficient cross-border travel in Europe. 🌱🇦🇹🇮🇹

🌿🐦 Citizen scientists use “coffee filter arks” to save sparrow chicks from drowning

Did you see this? A group of passionate volunteers in Rhode Island are helping saltmarsh sparrows avoid drowning by placing rigid coffee filters under their nests. When high tides rise, the nest gently floats — protecting eggs and hatchlings. The result? These makeshift “arks” have prevented nest losses in nearly all flood events. 

These sparrows are endangered, and habitat loss has forced them into flood-prone zones. By combining observation with innovation, these citizen scientists are making a real difference.
