Gruven Tom Radio Sessions is where I bring the two together through Song Sung True: A Veteran’s View, The Roundtable: Where Heroes Talk, and Battle Tracks: Stories Behind the Music "Song Sung True: A Veteran's View" - A Herostock Nation Podcast, is a program that features conversations and musical performances by military veterans who are also songwriters and musicians. Veterans from all branches of the military share their experiences, including their time in service, challenges of transitioning to civilian life, and how music has helped them. Includes performances of their original songs acoustic and unplugged, and personal stories behind the music highlighting its impact on their lives through resilience and healing. The program is hosted by Tom Lamog, Director of Media and Communications for Herostock Inc., and formerly a program consultant and instructor with the Guitars for Vets - Cyber Chapter, Learning Center and the Challenge America Veteran Arts Community (CAVARTS). I’ve had the opportunity to interview my friend Scotty Hasting a few times over the years, and a lot has happened since our last conversation.

Scotty is a U.S. Army veteran, Purple Heart recipient, songwriter and recording artist who found a new voice through music after his military service. His journey from soldier to songwriter has taken him places neither of us could have imagined during some of those earlier conversations.

On Battle Tracks: Stories Behind the Music, we’ll catch up on what’s happened since then and let the songs and musical experiences Scotty has chosen take us back to the people, places and moments that have shaped his story.
