As this long and emotional day comes to an end, it feels fitting to close it with a prayer.

At Inmate Tea with A&P we praise God’s name in the rain and the shine... in the victories, in the heartbreak, in the uncertainty, and in the moments where all we can do is pray and trust Him.

Tonight, we pray.

Dear God,

Tonight we thank You for carrying us through one of the heaviest days imaginable.

Thank You for every prayer whispered today.
Thank You for every person who stood in faith when things looked impossible.
Thank You for reminding us that Your power is greater than fear, greater than courts, greater than politics, and greater than hopelessness.

Lord, tonight we ask You to continue covering Tony Carruthers with peace, protection, strength, and clarity. Wrap Your arms around his family, his loved ones, his legal team, and everyone emotionally impacted by this case.

We pray for truth to come fully to light.
We pray for wisdom for those making life-or-death decisions.
We pray that justice never moves faster than the truth.

And God, no matter what tomorrow brings, let us never forget that You are still working even when we cannot see it.

Tennessee tortured Tony Carruthers earlier today as they botched his attempted ex*****on after being unable to find an IV line for the lethal drugs.

The governor must use this 1 year reprieve to test the evidence in Tony's case that should have been tested all along.

Last night I spoke with Tony Carruthers, and it was one of the hardest conversations I’ve ever had. As things became more serious and the reality of today set in, Tony still stood firmly on his innocence. But what broke me the most was hearing the peace and faith in his voice. Even facing death, he truly believed God could still show up.

Today, after the ex*****on was stopped because they were unable to find a vein, I honestly cannot help but feel shaken by it. In a moment where all hope seemed lost, something changed.

No matter what anyone believes about this case, it is impossible not to feel the weight of this moment.

Tonight, we will be releasing part of that conversation with Tony from last night.

“The Tennessee Department of Correction (TDOC) has been unable to obtain intravenous access to administer lethal injection to Mr. Carruthers,” the emergency motion says.
