On September 19, 2025 The Richland Parish Sheriff’s Office was contacted regarding a 4 month old infant who had been brought to the Delhi Hospital Emergency Room by ambulance and later died.

The infant was sent for an autopsy and preliminary findings revealed multiple internal injuries and the death was classified as a homicide.

During the investigation into the death the infant’s mother, 39 year old Candace Brown, was arrested and charged with 2nd Degree Murder. Brown was booked into the Richland Parish Detention Center with a bond of 1,000,000.00

This incident is still under investigation and anyone with information regarding this case is urged to contact the Richland Parish Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division.

Today the Richland Parish Sheriff's Office arrested Hussein Mohamed Abobaker for 3 cts. distribution of schedule I, 3 cts. Violation of the Uniform CDS Law (Drug Free Zone) and possession with intent to distribute schedule I.

This arrest came after an investigation into the selling of Kratom out of the Delhi Express convenience store located at 317 Main St. Delhi La.

A search warrant was also conducted at the store where a large amount of Kratom was seized.

Abobaker was booked into the Richland Parish Detention Center with a bond of $55,000.00
