The Sand Bar & Grill
What We Ordered
⢠Two blackened grouper sandwiches: Each featured a fresh grouper fillet on a toasted brioche bun with lettuce, tomato, red onion, and a pickle. Tartar sauce, lemon, and coleslaw were served on the side.
Service & Food
When we arrived, we waited longer than expected for our server, Celene, to come to the table, especially since only about five people were in the restaurant. Once she greeted us, however, her service was spot-on.
The sandwiches were generously sized and packed with grouper. I prefer heavier blackening seasoning, while my wife likes a lighter touch, and both sandwiches were cooked and seasoned perfectly for our tastes. The lettuce, tomato, and onion were fresh, as was the brioche bun.
Seating and Atmosphere
The restaurant offers ample indoor seating, plus additional tables outside. A large bar stretches from the interior into the outdoor area, while a second indoor bar provides even more seating. Sports fans will find plenty of viewing options. Televisions line the walls, each booth has a small screen, and a large television at the back of the dining area can be seen from throughout the room. Just a reminder smoking is permitted at the outdoor bar, so keep that in mind when deciding where to sit. The furnishings need attention. Our first table was extremely wobbly and had a torn surface, so we moved to a booth. Many indoor tabletops show noticeable wear, several chairs are rusty, and the upholstery in the small two-person booths are badly worn.
Final Thoughts
The grouper sandwiches were the best we tried in the area and made the stop worthwhile. The service could have been more attentive, and the tables would benefit from an update. Despite those drawbacks, the quality of the food made this restaurant worth visiting.
