Track & Field
On Friday, April 24, the Reedsburg Beaver boys and girls track teams hosted the Betsy DeMerit Memorial Invitational. Teams from Oregon, Richland Center, Sparta, Wisconsin Dells, and Wisconsin Rapids arrived to compete. The Beavers successfully defended their home turf; the boys won their meet 186.5 to 182 over Oregon, while the girls ended in a 172-point tie with Oregon.
Reedsburg later hosted a Quad meet featuring Waunakee, Mount Horeb, and Sauk Prairie. Both the Beaver boys and girls took second place, falling just behind Waunakee. The busy season continued late last week at the Cashton Invitational. Facing a stacked field of nine strong teams, the Beaver boys finished fifth, with New Lisbon taking the team title. The girls finished sixth, as Kickapoo/La Farge emerged as the dominant force. Most recently, the teams competed at last Friday’s Baraboo Relays. Reedsburg bounced back well, with the girls claiming second place and the boys taking home the meet title.
Baseball
The Reedsburg baseball team has been on an absolute tear. Over the last two weeks, they have put together an impressive streak of three consecutive series sweeps. They defeated Portage 9-2 and 10-0, shut out Stoughton 11-0 and 10-0, and finally swept Onalaska 11-1 and 13-2.
The boys have caught fire at the perfect time. Spirits are high and the offense is rolling as they head into a busy week. Reedsburg faces the McFarland Spartans on Tuesday, the Mount Horeb Vikings on Wednesday, and a rematch against McFarland on Friday night. These are critical conference games, and the Beavers are eager to keep their hot streak alive.
Boys Tennis
The Reedsburg boys tennis team had an eventful two weeks, competing in weekend tournaments in both Waukesha and Portage. Throughout this busy stretch, they managed an impressive eight team wins against only three losses.
A major highlight was a 4-3 victory over Pewaukee, where the singles players (seeds one through four) swept their matches to secure the win. They also earned a 4-3 victory over rivals Baraboo, marking their second win over their rivals this season. Looking ahead, the boys face a major challenge on Tuesday against top conference contender Edgewood at Quann Park. The week winds down with two matches on Thursday in Holmen and Mauston, followed by a Friday duel against Stoughton.
Softball Reedsburg Beaver HS. Softball
The Reedsburg softball team has hit a recent rough patch but is looking to finish the season strong. Last Thursday, the team dropped a doubleheader against Edgewood with final scores of 3-13 and 8-15. While the Beavers put up a fight, Edgewood’s bats remained hot throughout both games. The week concluded with a lopsided 1-11 loss to Portage.
The girls will have a chance for redemption in a rematch against Portage this Tuesday night. They will finish their week with a Thursday game against conference opponent Fort Atkinson, followed by a Friday doubleheader against La Crosse Central and La Crosse Logan.
Girls Soccer
The girls soccer team finished 1-2 last week, highlighted by a closely contested 5-4 win over the Portage Warriors. Their two losses came against McFarland and Edgewood, both ending in identical 1-4 scores. Despite the outcomes, both opponents are top-tier teams with very few losses this year.
The Beavers have two matchups this week: a 7:00 p.m. home game against Mount Horeb on Tuesday and an away game against Beaver Dam on Friday. The team hopes to secure a win to regain confidence and start a new streak.
Boys Golf Teams
The Reedsburg boys golf team competed in two major meets last week. First, at the Cedar Creek Invitational, the team placed sixth out of 19 schools. The Beavers were led by Preston Powell (’26), who scored a 75, and Brecken Johnson (’26), who carded a 78.
The team followed that with an outstanding performance at the River Valley Invitational held at House on the Rock. Three top individual rounds led the team to a first-place finish: Powell (’26) shot a 76, Grant Linscheid (’27) shot a 78, and Mitchell Eilsing (’28) finished with an 80. The Beavers' lone meet this week—their final home invitational—takes place Tuesday. They will compete against a deep field including Edgewood, Fort Atkinson, McFarland, Mount Horeb, Portage, Sauk Prairie, and Stoughton.
