Every year I forget this part of summer exists.

The part where we've already done the fun stuff, nobody wants to leave the house because it's approximately 97,000° outside, and somehow my kids ate all the snacks I just bought.

At this point, I'm not trying to make memories. I'm just trying to make it to bedtime without hearing, "Mom, she's touching me..." 427 times.

A few quiet chores, a coffee, and everybody having their own little corner of the house? That's the game plan today.

Back-to-school is close... I can feel it.

Even on vacation, it needs to be done!

Especially with 10 adults and 5 kids...things get messy.
Family vacations always remind me how differently people live. Some people leave every cabinet open, some clean as they go, some wake up early, some stay up half the night... and somehow we all end up under the same roof.

Everyone was out for the afternoon, so I took 20 minutes to reset the beach house. Nothing dramatic—I just love coming back to a space that feels calm before the chaos starts all over again.

Nothing—and I mean nothing—will humble you faster than a teenage daughter.

In all fairness, we are having a great summer!

My kids have been great, and for the most part have been so fun!

But that could all change which the flip of a switch or me saying "no."

We just have to be prepared, and on high alert for any sudden change that could tank the whole day!

I'm convinced one of the best things we can give our kids this summer is... boredom. It was a no-pool day because we have a swim meet tonight, so I spent the day catching up on everything around the house while the girls did their own thing. Don't get me wrong—we're not totally getting rid of screen time because I'm not a monster. But I've been trying to leave more space for them to figure things out for themselves, and so far, they've only complained a little bit!

I keep thinking back to the summers we grew up with. We made our own fun, complained we were bored, and somehow ended up making memories anyway. I'm hoping my girls get a little of that too. Tell me... what's one thing you always did during a 90s summer? I bet it'll unlock a memory for someone else.
