News Release

Contact: Lieutenant David Stepps

For Release: September 4th, 2026,

On September 2, 2026, following a lengthy investigation, the Eden Police Department executed a narcotics related search warrant at 928 Harris Street.

As a result of the search warrants, Eden Police Department Narcotics Detectives secured warrants on 59-year-old Curtis Eugene Terry for the following:

• Possession of a Fi***rm by Felon (Felony)
• Possession of Sch I (Felony)
• Possession of Co***ne (Felony)
• PWISD Co***ne (Felony)
• Expose a Child Control Substance x2 (Felony)
• Sell/Deliver 1,000ft of a Park (Felony)
• Maintain Vehicle/Dwelling CS (Felony)
• Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Misd)

Additionally, Eden Police Department Narcotics Detectives secured warrants for 32-year-old Darrell Antwon Wilson for the following:

• Expose a Child Control Substance x2 (Felony)
• Child Abuse x2 (Misd)
• Possession of Ma*****na (Misd)
• Possession of Ma*****na Paraphernalia (Misd)

Curtis Terry is being held without bond and is scheduled to appear in Rockingham County District Court on September 10, 2026.

Darrell Wilson received a $60,000 secure bond and is also scheduled to appear in Rockingham County District Court on September 10, 2026.

ROCKINGHAM COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE CONDUCTS MULTIPLE SEARCH WARRANTS; ARRESTS MADE IN NARCOTICS AND ANIMAL CRUELTY INVESTIGATION

Date of Release: Wednesday September 2, 2026

On Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at approximately 7:00 a.m., the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team assisted the Narcotics Division in the ex*****on of a narcotics search warrant at 318 Bethlehem Church Road in Eden, North Carolina. The search warrant was obtained as a result of an ongoing investigation and information developed from a previous narcotics investigation. During the ex*****on of the warrant, investigators seized illegal narcotics and fi****ms. As a result of the investigation, 46-year-old Joey Lee Landreth was arrested and charged with Felony Possession of Methamphetamine, Felony Aiding and Abetting, and Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Further investigation and evidence obtained during the initial search led investigators to obtain an additional search warrant for the same location and a secondary address. Investigators subsequently determined that animal abuse and illegal cockfighting activity were allegedly taking place at 318 Bethlehem Church Road, including the raising and training of roosters for combat.

At approximately 2:00 p.m. on September 1, 2026, a second search warrant was executed at the Bethlehem Church Road residence. Evidence related to the alleged cockfighting operation was seized. Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office Animal Control Officers also seized more than 10 roosters and chickens, several of which displayed injuries consistent with cockfighting. 46-year-old Joey Lee Landreth (pictured below) was additionally charged with Felony Cruelty to Animals and Felony Cockfighting. He was issued no bond on these charges, and his court date is scheduled for September 10, 2026.

Based on information and evidence obtained during those previous searches, members of the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team, Detectives, and Animal Control Officers then executed another search warrant at 294 Richardson Road in Reidsville, North Carolina. Investigators again seized evidence allegedly associated with illegal cockfighting, including documentation, medications, and fighting attachments all related to the raising, training, and fighting of roosters. Animal Control Officers seized four roosters from the location, several of which also displayed visible injuries. 64-year-old Jyles Wesley Creasey (pictured below) was arrested at the scene and charged with Felony Cockfighting and Felony Cruelty to Animals. Creasey was taken before the Rockingham County Magistrate where he was issued no bond and is scheduled to appear in court on September 10, 2026.

All animals seized during the investigation were transported to the Rockingham County Animal Shelter, where they will be evaluated and provided appropriate treatment. This investigation remains ongoing, and additional enforcement action is anticipated, potentially at other locations, and involving other persons.

Sheriff Billy Parker commends the Detectives, Narcotics Officers, Special Response Team members, and Animal Control Officers involved in this investigation for their professionalism, dedication, and commitment to protecting the citizens and animals of Rockingham County. He says “Under my administration, crime will not be tolerated in Rockingham County—regardless of what form it takes. Whether it is the manufacture or distribution of illegal drugs, theft, violence, crimes against children, animal cruelty, or any other violation of the law, those responsible will be investigated and held accountable. Our citizens deserve to live in a safe community, and the men and women of this Sheriff’s Office will continue working every day to provide that safety.”

The Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office will continue to aggressively investigate criminal activity and pursue those who choose to break the law. Utilizing every asset available for positive, safe results. Crime has consequences. Rockingham County will not be a safe haven for those who choose to break the law.
