Soft blanket, SnuggleSafe heating disc, full belly, and open eyes... complete joy! 🥰
A little backstory on the babies... they were found in someone’s crawl space and brought to IndyHumane yesterday. There was actually a seventh kitten, but he sadly passed away on the way to the shelter. After being in the high 70s last week, it has been really cold in Indianapolis the last several days. The past few nights have been below freezing with frost advisories. The babies likely would not have survived many more nights where they were. I don’t have any information on their mama. I pray that she is okay, but even more so that if she is, she will be TNR’d. Otherwise, she’ll most likely have another litter of kittens a few months from now. It’s a vicious cycle.
The babies are so happy and content to have full bellies and a warm place to sleep. They LOVE the heating pads and roll around on their backs like this a lot. When I got them home yesterday, none made any move to exit the carrier. Now they are all running around, playing, and wrestling. A couple are already trying to figure out how to escape the pen!
This sweet boy looks a hundred times better than he did when I picked them up 24 hours ago. No telling how long his eyes had been completely crusted shut. He is so happy to be able to see now. I’m still working to get all the crust and grime cleaned off, but it’s a slow process. I can’t wait to see how he and his siblings progress over the next few days and weeks! 🖤
