ππΌ Once again, your vote matters. Reno should not give up control of its fire protection to outsiders who answer to no one.
It is perfectly fine for the city to contract with ESD 1 or any other fire department, but it must be a united NO to an ESD tax. This is how local control is lost.
Once that ESD tax is approved it never goes away, no matter how much money the city has. If Reno forms a municipal fire department, the city can access state and federal grants to offset many of the costs. That keeps citizens from being forced to pay out of pocket for services they are already funding.
π₯ Reno residents already pay for fire protection. The ESD tax is just a way to make you pay for it twice. π₯
If any public official tells you that voting for an ESD tax is the only answer, they are admitting they have failed. True leadership means protecting citizens and their wallets, not forcing families to pay twice for the same service. Leaders who cannot do that should step aside and let people who can, take the wheel.
Stand up for local control, demand accountability, and protect Renoβs right to decide its own future.
