A lot of our animations are used to explain the mechanism of injury of a certain disease or the mechanism of action (MOA) behind a certain treatment. In this clip, the mechanism of injury for liver damage is apoptosis, or cell death. The process of apoptosis initiates chronic inflammation which causes scar tissue to form, obstructing the vessels and hindering liver function.
