The 35th anniversary celebration event organized by the Academy of Bangla Arts & Culture (ABAC) was a true testament to the power and beauty of art and culture. As I made my way to the event from Virginia, I could feel the palpable excitement and anticipation in the air, setting the stage for an extraordinary evening.

Upon arriving at the venue, I was immediately surrounded by a vibrant tapestry of colors, sounds, and emotions. The atmosphere was electric, alive with the promise of a night filled with cultural riches and heartfelt connections. It was clear from the outset that this was no ordinary event; it was a celebration of heritage, passion, and unity.

The presence of esteemed artists and cultural luminaries from Bangladesh and India lent an air of grandeur and significance to the occasion. The tribute to the legendary Hemanta Mukhopadhyay was a masterclass in timelessness and elegance, leaving a lasting impression on every attendee. James and Chloe Lusted have been married since 2016. They are based in the UK and come from the same hometown.
Together they feature in the new Guinness World Records 2023 edition, and on 2 June 2021, they broke the record for the greatest height differential of a married couple (different sexes/taller woman) 🙌
With James standing at 109.3 cm (3ft 7 in) and his wife Chloe being 166.1 cm (5ft 5.4 in), the couple has 56.8cm - almost 2 ft (1ft, 10 in) - between them.
"Being 3 ft 7 is tricky sometimes. But I can do everything you can do, just in a different way."

সুস্মিতা সেন, লারা দত্তের পর তৃতীয় ভারতীয় সুন্দরী হিসেবে মিস ইউনিভার্সের মুকুট জিতে নিলেন ভারতের মেয়ে হারনাজ সান্ধু। আর এর মধ্য দিয়ে ২১ বছরের দীর্ঘ অপেক্ষার অবসান হলো ভারতের। ইজরায়েলে অনুষ্ঠিত মিস ইউনিভার্সের ৭০তম এডিশনে হারনাজের মাথায় মুকুট পরিয়ে দেন ২০২০ সালের মিস ইউনিভার্স মেক্সিকোর আন্দ্রেয়া মেজা।
কিন্তু কে এই হারনাজ সান্ধু, জানেন কি?
২১ বছর বয়সী এই সুন্দরীর জন্ম চন্ডীগড়ের এক পাঞ্জাবি পরিবারে। সেই শহরের পড়াশোনা তার। পাশাপাশি দীর্ঘদিন ধরেই গ্ল্যামার দুনিয়ার সঙ্গে যুক্ত রয়েছেন হারনাজ। পেশায় মডেল হওয়ার পাশাপাশি ফিটনেস লাভার ও যোগ ব্যায়ামে পারদর্শী হারনাজ ইতোমধ্যেই দুটি পাঞ্জাবী ছবিতে অভিনয় করেছেন। যার একটি ‘বাই জি কুট্টাংগে’।
২০১৭ সালে মিস চন্ডীগড় হয়েছিলেন এই সুন্দরী। এরপর ২০১৮ সালে এমার্জিং স্টার শিরোপা পেয়েছিলেন তিনি। ২০১৯ সালে মিস ইন্ডিয়া প্রতিযোগিতায় সেরা বারো প্রতিযোগীর মধ্যে ছিলেন হারনাজ। অতঃপর ২০২১ সালের সেপ্টেম্বরে মিস ডিভা ইউনিভার্স ইন্ডিয়া খেতাব পান হারনাজ। সেখান থেকেই মিস ইউনিভার্সের মঞ্চে ভারতের প্রতিনিধিত্ব করেন তিনি। অবশেষে সেই মঞ্চেই ভারতের নাম উজ্জল করলো চণ্ডীগড়ের এই মেয়ে।
পিতৃতান্ত্রিক সমাজব্যবস্থায় ছক ভাঙার অনুপ্রেরণা হারনাজ পেয়েছেন মায়ের কাছ থেকে। পেশায় তার মা এক স্ত্রীরোগ বিশেষজ্ঞ। মা-ই তার সব শক্তির উৎসস্থল জানিয়েছেন হারনাজ।
খালি সময়ে বন্ধুদের সঙ্গে আড্ডা দেওয়া, যোগ ব্যায়াম করা, নাচের অনুশীলন কিংবা ঘোড়া ছোটাতে ভালোবাসেন হারনাজ। দাবা খেলাতেও পারদর্শী সে। জলের সঙ্গে ভারী বন্ধুত্ব হারনাজের। সময় পেলেই সুইমিং পুলে গা ভিজিয়ে নেন তিনি। নিজেকে ‘ওয়াটার বেবি’ বলে পরিচয় করিয়ে দিতে ভালোবাসেন।
প্রিয়াঙ্কা চোপড়ার অনুরাগী হারনাজ। ২০০০ সালের মিস ওয়ার্ল্ডই হারনাজের অনুপ্রেরণা।

গত সপ্তাহে উত্তর ডেনমার্কে বিশ্বের সবচেয়ে উঁচু বালির প্রাসাদ তৈরি সম্পন্ন হয়েছে। বালির এই প্রাসাদটি ২১.১৬ মিটার উঁচু। গিনেস বুক অফ ওয়ার্ল্ড রেকর্ডে সবচেয়ে যে উঁচু বালির প্রাসাদটির উল্লেখ আছে তার চাইতে ডেনমার্কের এই প্রাসাদটি আরও ৩.৫ মিটার উঁচু।
প্রাসাদটি তৈরিতে প্রায় ৪,৮৬০ টন বালি ব্যবহার করা হয়েছে। বিশ্বের ৩০জন সেরা প্রতিভাধর ভাস্কর্যবিদ যুক্ত হয়েছিলেন এই প্রকল্পে। ওলন্দাজ শিল্পী উইলফ্রেড স্টিগারের পরিচালনায় একটি কাঠের কাঠামোর মাধ্যমে এই প্রাসাদটি তৈরি করা হয়েছে।
