If you’re familiar with and , who co-own coffee shops .coffeeculture and .ja, you’ll know that they are mix masters, putting out the most delicious, complex coffee beverages around, not to mention top notch espresso drinks.

In ’s words, “Inspired by traditional flavors of Central and South America, this drink is a tart cold brew drink that hits you with a perfect little balance of heat.

who showed us several recipes made with this amazing fruit.”

Hooray! Raise a glass to the first day of Spring! 🌸🌱🍾

Any fresh sip might do, but if you’re feeling inspired, consider celebrating the season with Jan Haeck’s delicious Spring Spritz recipe, which you can find in our new issue out on stands now!

In Jan’s own words, he chose to share a spritz recipe with our readers because “It’s festive, fresh, and reeks of finally being able to sit outside again. Also, the vivid chartreuse of Midori and Strega mimic the freshly sprouting vegetation of upstate in spring.”

In this issue’s “At Home With” column, also writes about Jan and his husband Kreshnik’s incredible sense of hospitality, welcoming friends and neighbors into their beautiful home in Schenectady’s Stockade District, where they share locally sourced, globally inspired sips and bites with their lucky guests.

Today’s gusty mix of sun and snow reminds us that there are still a few fleeting winter moments to seize before our local mountains thaw and this year’s incredible snow base gives way to the green slopes of spring.

On that note, take a page out of columnist and photographer ’s book and embrace the long tail of winter with pre-ski parking lot pancakes! 🥞⛷️

In ’s words, “Pancakes are an ideal adventure companion. You can make them on almost any heat source—campfire, camp stove, or griddle. All you really need is a pan, a nonstick spray or butter, and a spatula (although a fork has been known to work in a pinch). You can whip up a homemade batter at home and bring it in any squeeze bottle, or opt for the store-bought version—both make for quick turnover.

“Though standard pancakes are not filled with protein, there are numerous ways to bulk them up so they can provide you with longer lasting fuel for your day on the slopes. Serving them alongside sausage or bacon will also do the trick.”

Do you have your Thanksgiving turkey plans all figured out? 🦃🍂

While we love roasting a full bird and would even encourage that for a group, we’re also really excited to suggest this recipe for brined and roast turkey parts.

Three reasons make us particularly enthusiastic about this method: (1) It produces crispy, golden skin and tender, flavorful meat. (2) Cooking turkey parts (thighs, breasts, and drumsticks) rather than a whole turkey is the perfect Thanksgiving solution for small groups. (3) It’s also the perfect way to eat turkey year round!

Pick up a copy of our fall issue for the full recipe and more over, consider sourcing your bird locally from the amazing farmers at (Ballston Lake), (Canajoharie), or Bella Terra (available at the )!
