Good Friday Morning,

It's another very hot and humid day, with a heat advisory in effect 11am to 8pm. The same very high humidity makes it hard to cool off. Please be careful.
We have another chance of strong to severe storms late this afternoon, with the storm chance continuing into the evening.

The heat and humidity will back off this weekend, especially Sunday and Labor Day.

Good Thursday Morning,

Today and tomorrow are First Alert Weather Days for heat, plus a severe storm threat.
Like yesterday, most areas will be rain free but where storms do form, they could be strong to severe. Today and tomorrow's severe storms could bring strong winds and hail.

Good Wednesday Morning,

The heat ticks up enough today and tomorrow for Heat Advisories. Plus, there's a chance of strong to severe storms each afternoon for the next three days with the chance growing a little each day through Friday.
Any storms will move quickly (not much of a flood threat) but could bring strong winds and hail.

We start September with a heat wave, with highs in the mid to upper 90s through Friday. Each day has a low end storm chance and any storms that pop up could be strong to severe.

Temperatures slide to normal or below this weekend.

Good Monday morning,

It's going to be a hot week, with highs in the 90s each day. Tuesday-Thursday will hit the upper 90s and we have Wednesday and Thursday as First Alert Weather Days for excessive heat and humidity. There's not much rain in this week's forecast but any day could produce an isolated storm.

BIG NEWS FROM THE FREIDEN FAMILY!

Short Story: My wife and I own a wedding/event venue and we’re open for business! Don’t worry, neither one of us is quitting our day jobs. I’ll still be doing the weather in the mornings on 12 On Your Side and she’ll still be seeing patients as a Dental Hygienist.

Long Story: I’ve been stalking Northern Cumberland county since the drought of the early 2000s when Henrico County realized it needed to store water instead of just relying on the flow of the James River. When plans were finalized for a 12 hundred acre lake 35-40 miles West of Richmond I couldn’t stop thinking about it. Cumberland is a beautiful rural county and it’s closer to town than you think.

Years later (2023) Jaime and I bought a house and 25 acres on the [future] shores of the reservoir. The house had been vacant for years and needed some work. So we dug in. We spent countless long days with family and friends getting the house, property, and barn ready for the lake to arrive.

That finally happened in early Spring of 2025, and we couldn’t believe how gorgeous it looked.

Everyone who visited said, "You should have weddings here!" It’s been a long process to get everything ready but we have our Conditional Use Permit in hand and we are open for business! We never thought we'd be venue owners/operators but couldn't be more excited for this next chapter in our lives.
