LCPL WILLIE EDWARD BOLTON, Perry County, served with the US Marine Corps as a machine gunner in Vietnam. On 21 Mar 1969, he was KILLED IN ACTION by enemy artillery fire. His name can be found on the Vietnam Memorial Wall at 29W/95. We are grateful for his service and honor his ultimate sacrifice. 🇺🇸

VETERAN'S SALUTE 2025!

TALMADGE BREWER, Greene County, served in the US Army Air Forces during World War II. He was flying as a top turret gunner on a B-24 Liberator for the 744th Bomber Squadron when his plane was shot down. SGT Brewer was KILLED IN ACTION near Munich, Germany on 4 Oct 1944 and was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart. We are grateful for his service and honor his ultimate sacrifice. 🇺🇸

TEC5 BRUCE BYRD, Greene County, served with the US Army's 17th Cavalry Reconnaissance during World War II. He was KILLED IN ACTION 3 Sep 1944 and was awarded the Purple Heart posthumously. We are grateful for his service and ultimate sacrifice. 🇺🇸

VETERAN'S SALUTE 2025!

PVT Wilford Hale Byrd, Greene County, served with the 83rd Infantry Division during World War II. He was KILLED IN ACTION 21 Mar 1945.

PVT Byrd was originally assigned to the Army Air Corps. He volunteered as an Infantry replacement upon hearing that his brother, Warren, was trapped in The Bulge fighting with the 5th Combat Engineers. He was killed in his attempt to help his brother.

He was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart. We honor his service and ultimate sacrifice!🇺🇸
