Starting the garden early in Zone 4b Wisconsin 🌱 While there’s still snow outside, my onions and peppers are already getting their head start indoors. Seed trays today… salsa ingredients tomorrow! 🌶️🧅

Seed starting season has officially begun here at Dusek Roots! 🌱

Living in Zone 4b means our growing season is short, so starting plants indoors gives us a big head start before the last frost (usually around mid-May here in Wisconsin).

This year we’re starting:
🌶 Jalapeños
🫑 Emerald Giant Peppers
🫑 California Wonder Peppers
🧅 Onions

A few fun seed starting facts:
• Peppers can take 7–14 days to germinate and love warm soil.
• Onion seedlings look like tiny blades of grass when they first pop up.
• Starting seeds indoors can give plants a 4–8 week head start compared to direct sowing outside.

Now the waiting game begins… watching soil and hoping for tiny green sprouts! 🌱
