Parenting Micro Tip: Normalize not turning every school discomfort into a problem the school has to solve.

Sometimes your child is going to be disappointed.
Sometimes they won’t get the teacher they wanted.
Sometimes a friend will hurt their feelings.
Sometimes they’ll be corrected, frustrated, bored, or asked to do something they don’t want to do.

And yes, there are absolutely times when we need to advocate.

But there are also times when the best thing we can do is help our kids work through it instead of immediately trying to remove it.

Not every hard moment is harmful.
Not every uncomfortable feeling needs an adult intervention.
Sometimes the lesson is simply: I can handle hard things.

And that’s a pretty important skill to take with them long after they leave the classroom.

Uncommon opinion: teacher coaches (or ToSAs/TSAs) depending on your district … are some of the most important boots-on-the-ground people in school improvement.

They’re in classrooms.
They’re talking to teachers.
They’re seeing what students actually need.
They’re helping turn school goals into real classroom practice.

And when teachers, coaches, students, and administrators are all working toward the same goal, that’s when real improvement starts to happen.

Week one was about relationships.
Week two is about building the systems that make the rest of the year work.

Support teachers in using the curriculum they already have, building strong routines, creating independence, and getting students doing more of the thinking.

And this is NOT the week to sit one on one testing every child just because you feel like you need more data.

The screener will do its job when it’s time.

Right now, help build classrooms where students know:

✨ I belong here.
✨ I have a voice here.
✨ I’m going to work hard here.

Use what we have.
Teach it well.
Build the systems.
Let the data come.
