When you think of 1776, what story comes to mind?

BEFORE WYOMING: THE WEST IN 1776 invites viewers to look westward, exploring the people, cultures, and changes shaping this land long before Wyoming existed and before westward expansion transformed the region.

Wyoming PBS is proud to be a co-producer, along side Wyoming Humanities and Caldera Productions, on this project and can't wait to share it with Wyoming audiences. Join us July 3 in Cheyenne for the premiere and stay tuned for community screenings statewide.

Before Wyoming: The West in 1776 📖🦬

A recent project of Wyoming Humanities, co-produced with Caldera Productions and Wyoming PBS, Before Wyoming: The West in 1776 explores the story of this land at the time of 1776, long before the West was part of the United States of America.

While the story of 1776 is often told from the East Coast, Before Wyoming highlights the dynamic history unfolding across the West, where Indigenous nations thrived, and sweeping changes brought by horses, trade, and disease were already reshaping life long before westward expansion arrived.

🎬 The Premiere will take place at the kickoff event for the Governor's 250th Celebration!

📅 July 3 | Surbrugg/Prentice Auditorium, Laramie County Community College, Cheyenne
🥂 5:30 p.m. Reception
