We are looking for people interested in design, website, editorial, print production, photography, new media, and packaging. Throughout the year, RIT TAGA participates in numerous activities with the goal of enhancing student education in the graphic arts. Activities include events such as screen-printing fundraisers. At the heart of it all is the publication of a technical journal of student research. The journal publication process gives students invaluable hands-on experience in content editing, design, pre-press, production, and project management. Each year, the journal is entered into a student publication competition at the TAGA Annual Technical Conference. In 2011, last year, the 63rd conference was held in Pittsburgh, PA and focused on today’s leading graphic arts technologies and tomorrow’s innovations. RIT TAGA competed against other universities and took home the Helmut Kipphan Cup for Best Overall Publication! This year the conference is in Jacksonville, Florida March 2012. RIT TAGA is a student chapter of the Technical Association of the Graphics Arts (TAGA)— a “global professional technical association for the graphic arts industries.” The mission of TAGA is “to provide a worldwide forum for sharing and disseminating theoretical, functional and practical information on current and emerging technologies for Graphic Arts print production and related processes.”
