CAN YOU SEE IT? All eyes will be on the prospect of a "Severe" (G4) geomagnetic storm Sunday night. We all know how fickle these forecasts tend to be. Let's, for argument's sake, assume that G4 forecast is spot on and actually happens Sunday night. Will your local sky cooperate?

The map below shows high resolution cloud cover conditions for around midnight Sunday night/Monday morning, color coded to provide a general assessment of viewability. There's another catch with this one...wildfire smoke. While skies will be relatively clear across the western Great Lakes, that smoke will absolutely be thick enough to be a problem.

🌌 Aurora Update 🌌

Conditions for a G4-level storm peaked early—before sunrise—which likely means we won’t see another strong burst tonight.

While NOAA is still holding out hope, experts say G2–G3 levels are more likely as the storm settles.

💡 The northern lights could still show up, but odds of a major overhead display are now lower. Stay tuned just in case the storm re-strengthens tonight.

📸 If you’re chasing: clear skies + a good camera still matter.

Bluebell Bliss in the Genesee Valley 🍃🪾

Endless bluebells, even in the rain—an unforgettable sight. After two years of being waitlisted, finally stepping onto this trail felt surreal.

Grateful to the Genesee Valley Conservancy and the landowners for giving us access to something so few get to see.
