Daily Ramblings: September 9th, 2026

Superman. One of my favorite superheroes in multiple media. I loved all of the animated shows from the '90's and early '00s, Super Friends, the original Superman I and || by Richard Donner, James Gunn's Superman, and the Ed McGuiness run on Batman/Superman.

Personally, I hated Zack Snyder's take on the big blue Boy Scout. In my opinion, he didn't seem to understand the character. Just my two cents; you don't have to agree.

I also didn't like Frank Miller's take on Batman and Superman. I know, not a popular opinion, but no, just no. Good story, but too violent for either character. Batman and Superman don't kill. End of the story.

It's not that I don't like universe stories, but Superman is about hope. His comics should reflect that in their stories. He's an interesting character because of it.

The algorithm is a strange beast.

Some days, I hit a few hundred views, and once in a while, even a few thousand. Then I post something, and... crickets. Nada. It feels like no one even notices it.

That the nature of the beast, thought. There's not much I can do about it. It sucks, but it is what it is.

I honestly wish I understood how the algorithm actually works. If someone out there knows, please explain it to me. I'm trying!

Sometimes, being older and not quite as knowledgeable about how all of this works can be a detriment to success. But I'll keep trudging forward.

Why?

Because I am having the time of my life, and I absolutely LOVE my job.

I wouldn't change it for the world.

Daily Ramblings: September 7th, 2026

Coming to the end of book on for Salem Corners is anti-climatic. I thought I'd feel super excited. In a way, though, I feel sad. I have 15 or 16 pages left, with a couple of art pages thrown in, and I will officially have finished the first book in the series at 250 pages total. Not too bad.

They're full color, written and drawn by me. I'm proud as can be, I really am, but there's a feeling of sadness that hits me a little. I know I'm going to draw book two while I put out the remastered edition, but have finished book one isn't what I expected it to feel like. I love how it's turned out, no doubt, yet there's still some feeling of "ugh" in there.

I hope you understand what I'm trying to say. I'm not sure I'm expressing it right.

Daily Ramblings: September 5th, 2026

The past week, I've been drawing and performing some much-needed maintenance. I've kind of neglected backing everything up as I've gone along. Not the pages, mind you, but the assets. I'm starting to make a database of word balloons, tails, font styles, art, page layouts, etc. Eventually, everything will just be just a drag-and-drop away.

My original goal was to draw my book traditionally. That changed the day I was injured. With my slight tremor and twitching, I had no other choice but to do it digitally. Over time, though, I've started to make the digital art feel just like my paper-drawn originals. Thankfully, with the drawing pad, not much had to change. I wouldn't go back now if I had a choice, as I can do so much more on the computer than I could on paper. Plus, I don't have to constantly scan artwork only to ink it later.

I use the computer as the tool it was designed to be. It's just like a cane is to walking for me. I use it to make my life easier.
