Dungeons & Dragons in a Dungeon

Are you sure these aren’t Terry Scott’s winners?

No Kerrang (again), but check this out, we played D&D in a castle!* After inexplicably winning in Comic Relief prize draw, we were off for a weekend of nerdy fun, and have prepared a full report for you.

Massive thanks to , and most of all our fantastic Dungeon Master David Knight of and for running a fantastic game, bringing the whole thing to life, and, crucially, not making our non nerdy friends run for the hills.

Along the way we finally do the Dulco Ease retrospective, talk ghost hunting, and cover some gaming news about an old favourite! And a whopping big recommendation for

*Not, I hasten to add “D&D in a Castle” - an actual thing where you go on a 4 day retreat and pay a phenomenal amount of money to nerd out surrounded by halberds and butteresses and such- although we *were* in the castle they do D&D in a Castle in!

However if want to give us some complimentary tickets in return for a completely impartial review HIT US UP!

We just released a new episode of the podcast, and, while the preview is an in depth examination of some hot new band apparently called "Nickel Back", the full episode on Patreon is a smooth, sexy, saxophone special, so if you want to hear some classic sax breaks - let's be honest- *screamed* into the microphone, you know where to go. Also lots of Spider-Man talk, for reasons I can't quite remember.

Get more from Can I Pod With Madness on Patreon. A podcast about Kerrang in the 80s and occasionally the 90s.. Support Can I Pod With Madness and get exclusive access to their work.

Nickeltwats and Saxy Motherf**kers We’re back with another amazing Patreon exclusive episode - basically the kind of shambolic free form reverie that’s for the real PWM sickos. The main part of this one is a mind shattering new quiz, Saxy Motherf**kers, which I’m sure you can guess the premise...

Kerrang 176 Feb 1988 - Motorhead, Faith No More and Zodiac Mindwarp's comics reviews

Fresh Blood Could Kill Me

Kicking off a new year and a new podcast with yet more Gen Patter, as we question whether Gen Z are into Zorro, and wonder whether it’s too late in the game to change the name of the podcast. Simply Red are reappraised, despite not appearing in this week’s issue of Kerrang! However - we do get Atomkraft, WASP, The Accused, Dogs D’amour, Paul Sabu, and Zodiac Mindwarp.

Kommunikation features opposing views about Faith No More (still in their Chuck Mosely era) which somehow sends us off down a rabbit hole where we discuss Paris Jackson and Incubus. We ask is “Martha Splatterhead” a feminist trailblazer, and wonder about the state of digital watch technology in the early 80s.

We lament questionable marketing for Aerosmith’s Honkin’ on Bobo and present our pitch for the Sabbat biopic. There’s big features on Motorhead (apparently Lemmy is proper into The Titanic) and Heart (which means I can bang on about Dream of The Archer again). We finish off with a new KWIZZ, which goes a lot better than the last time we tried a KWIZZ.

Also: Coronation Street!

Kerrang Oct 1982 - Genesis Reunited, Neil Young goes electro and Aerosmith take the p**s

We're all the way back in 1982, talking Neil Young, Aerosmith and Genesis (and ignoring King Rojo). Also, we discover Blackfoot, secret jawas and the Palermo Catacombs.Old man take a look at my life, I'm a lot like you, especially if you remember the heady days of October 1982. John Cougar/Mellencamp is getting chippy about”real” Rock n’ Roll and Lee Aaron is BEING SEXUALLY PROVOCATIVE which may or may not involve shadow puppets.

Neil Young might be patient zero of grunge, but in ‘82 he was all about modern technology - we examine whether this was influenced by his encounters with the indigenous population of Tatooine. In other news Aerosmith are well and truly in their Wilderness Years, and the comeback is several years off, but Steven Tyler is still full of p**s and vinegar. Mostly p**s.

Elsewhere there's a report on the Genesis Reunion concert and that means once again I'm trying to educate Mrs PWM on the idiosyncrasies of progressive rock. Peter Gabriel may be once again donning the flower, but Phil Collins is overworking himself to the point that we question whether he has a problem saying no to stuff.

We also get into Klassifieds and endless mentions of Denim, and there's Kommunication asking whether leather is essential to rockin’.

Be warned, the full unexpurgated splurge of this conversation is available over on the Patreon so if you want to hear some more recommendations, reviews and listener mail, plus Bowie, Big Brother and our Queen of Hearts, Kinga, get over there and sign up!

Watering can news! When we're not giving you the excruciating details about our garden, we're looking at Kerrang 619 from October 1996. It's the most downery, cancelled motherf**kers filled issue we've had yet BUT we're still keeping it light! Helloween almost get Deep Kutz status AND we realise Coa...

Nobody Reads in That Band, Dude! Here’s another BONUS POD (Or if you’re not a Patreon - a PREVIEW of a BONUS POD) and we’re returning to Metal Hammer 256, from May 2014. Fear not though, we’re not touching on modern music (from 12 years ago) - most of this issue is centred around a celebrati...
