The Franklin County Chapter of the NAACP proudly presented an evening with Shelia Arnold, a gifted storyteller. This program was thoughtfully crafted to pay tribute to the brave men from Franklin County who left during the Civil War to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America, despite the fact that, according to the Constitution, most of these men were considered only 3/5th of a person.

The NAACP's intention was to serve as a poignant reminder that while many men were on the battlefield, numerous women were engaged in their own struggles on the home front, dedicating their efforts to rebuilding our nation and their families in the aftermath of the war.

The event featured soul-stirring music, informative descriptions of military service by esteemed and high-ranking Black officers from today's military, and, of course, the captivating storytelling prowess of Shelia Arnold. It was an evening filled with powerful narratives and a celebration of the indomitable human spirit.
