According to Business Insider, an anonymous Instagram influencer with 275,000 followers made $700,000 in brand deals in six months.

Everyone is on social media nowadays, but few are able to turn it into a job. What makes these people so special to make thousands, sometimes millions, of dollars off of views and make a career out of it? We all look for our 15 minutes of fame each time we post something on a social media platform. However, some people’s fame lasts longer than 15 minutes and they become known as “Influencers.”

It’s a common term now, maybe more so an occupation. Anyone can make…

On Sept. 30, the LGBTQIA+ support group for students called Building a Bridge met in the D’Arcy Great Room located in Sancta Alberta Chapel for their weekly meeting. The group aims to educate and advocate for justice and equality for LGBTQIA+ individuals and the reconciliation within the larger church and student communities.

“Building a Bridge is just a safe space for allies to talk about their experiences,” said junior nursing student and peer minister Alexander Kohut. “It’s a very safe and accepting environment, so [the main goal] is just to provide a safe environment to talk.”

Since the group mainly focuses on advocating for the acceptance of LGBTQIA+ individuals in the community, Kohut uses the book “Building a Bridge ” by James Martin to help lead their discussion on bible verses found…

In an attempt to remember, support and acknowledge the ways in which su***de and mental illness affect loved ones, the university social work department along with the Lewis community organized The Out of Darkness Campus Walk that took place April 2 at 10 am.

Students, faculty and staff were all welcome to participate. Walkers were encouraged to wear honor beads during the walk, with each bead color representing a different loss/struggle, showing support for one another.

Event organizer and social work professor Dr. Lori McMeel shared the importance of the su***de prevention walk:

“This walk brings together our community in such a powerful way and truly models the values of the Lewis community,”

The Flyers baseball season has begun, starting February 18 in Nashville, Tennessee against Trevecca University. It was not a great start for the Flyers as they lost to Trevecca, but the team hopes to fix the few kinks that they have and work together as a team.

The Flyers are aware of what they have to do as a team to be able to win and have a successful season. This is not an ideal start to the season but the Flyers have agreed to not look back and only move forward.

“We all try to work on our own goals so we can reach our goals as a team, like every team we want to win,” said junior David Ascencio. “We try to just take it one game at a time and learn from it”.

Baseball is something that…

“We [the globe] has warmed up about 1.8 degrees Fahrenheit in the last 140 years,” said Meteorology professor and specialist Richard DiMiao.

Chicago is known for many things, among them the inconsistent weather. However, the past couple of years have been unusual in terms of normal weather conditions in Chicago, especially during the winter months. As we have recently experienced, it was around 65 degrees this past December— a rare and concerning occurrence for…

The ‘90s was full of many beloved sitcoms, one of which included “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” starring Will Smith. Filled with iconic messages, music and scenes, “The Fresh Prince” continues to influence today’s culture. However, there has been a reboot of the sitcom, titled “Bel-Air,”, which has a fresh outlook on the story of Will Smith, who is still the main character. Produced by Will Smith himself, the brand new cast portrays a different, more dramatic aspect of Smith’s life in West Philadelphia to his move to Bel-Air.

The sitcom was partially memorialized by its theme song, speaking of Smith’s “one little fight” on the basketball court in West Philadelphia, however, in “Bel-Air” we see the details of that fight. We also see different aspects of black…

Did you know that about 80% of students in the U.S. end up switching their major at least once?

It amazes me to see how much pressure we put on ourselves to know at the age of 18 what we want to do with the rest of our lives. Sometimes I don’t even know what I want to eat for lunch, but don’t worry because in the future I know exactly what I want to do.

When I began looking for colleges, I thought it…

Netflix’s most recent film has to do with the famous dating app, Tinder. Usually, that would sound like a red flag to many, but instead of being a red flag, the film was a red warning. The true-crime documentary “Tinder Swindler” showcases the dangers of modern-day dating apps and accounts the stories of three women who were swindled out of millions of dollars. The swindler, who goes by multiple names, manipulates them to believe in…
