As students at Parkview Center School come back for a new year of school, they get to enjoy a brand new accessible playground.

This playground is two years in the making, thanks to a motivated group of parents, students, school staff, and community partners who organized and fundraised to make it possible.

"This playground is a testament to what can happen when a community comes together," Roseville Area Schools Superintendent Jenny Loeck said.

Today is Labor Day.

A day set aside to recognize the working people whose labor built our communities, strengthened our country, and helped secure many of the workplace protections we often take for granted today.

For firefighters, holidays look a little different. The firehouse stays staffed, the trucks stay ready, and the calls keep coming.

So today, while many are enjoying a day off, we want to give a special thank you to our A-Shift members spending Labor Day serving the Roseville community.

To all working people, especially those on the job today, Happy Labor Day from Roseville Professional Firefighters IAFF Local 5051.

Stay safe. Take care of each other. And enjoy the day.

🚌 Back to School = A Quick Reminder for Our Neighbors

School is back, and so are the buses — making about 10,000 trips a day across Minnesota. 🚌📚 Keeping those rides safe is something we all have a role in.

🚨 One important update: Minnesota’s school bus stopping law has changed.

You must stop at least 20 feet from a school bus whenever its RED lights are flashing — even if the stop arm hasn’t been extended yet.

Here’s the quick rundown:

🛑 On regular, undivided roads, traffic in BOTH directions must stop.

🛑 On divided roads with a median or barrier, only traffic on the same side of the median as the bus must stop.

💰 A first violation can result in a $500 fine, and illegally passing a school bus when a child is outside can lead to serious criminal charges.

But the real goal isn’t the fine or the law. It’s making sure every child who gets on or off a school bus can count on the cars around them to stop.

So as the school year gets underway, please slow down, stay alert around school buses and bus stops, and give our kids a little extra space. 👀

Let’s work together to make sure every student gets to and from school safely. 💛🚌
