“Seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the Lord on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare.” (Jeremiah 29:7)
While this verse was directed to the Israelites, its principle applies to Christians today. We know that this world is our temporary home (just as Babylon was temporary for the Isreailites) but while we are on this earth we are to pray for our city.
Let’s commit to pray daily for our neighbors, our schools and their students and teachers, our churches and their pastors and members, our Liberty businesses and their owners, our non-profit organizations and their boards and staff, property owners, our elected city officials, our city staff, our first-responders, our contractors, our prospective investors, and ourselves.
Pray for wisdom, understanding, patience, kindness, humility, justice, mercy, grace, joy, peace, gentleness, goodness, generosity, blessings, faithfulness, prosperity,
self-control, civility, love, and unity.
We all love Liberty and want to see Liberty prosper. With the many challenges we have to navigate through, let’s be sure we are setting ourselves up for success, by first praying for all of the above, before we act or react.
